BDU-TASAM 9th Istanbul Security Conference Was Held

The 9th Istanbul Security Conference was held on 23-24 November at the Kagithane Campus of Kent University. BDU was among the supporters of the Conference this year, as it was last year.

-BDU Founding Vice President and Lecturer at the American University of Cyprus Guney Ferhat Bati “One Hundred Years of the Republic of Turkiye: Balkans Policy of Turkish Foreign Policy”

-BDU Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Department of Economic History at Nigde Omer Halisdemir University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslihan Nakiboglu, “Economic Security: Evaluation of Turkiye with Economic Indicators”

-Dr. Ayse Kasikirik, Deputy Secretary General of BDU and Founding President of the Global Equality and Inclusion Network, “Where Are Women in the Climate Struggle?”

-BDU Founding Board Member and BESAM President Mehmet Nuri Kaynar “Turkiye’s Youth Policies” were presented.


The Conference, which continued for two days with 30 different sessions in three different halls, also included the Second Istanbul Cyber-Security Forum, the Fifth Maritime and Maritime Security Forum, the Sixth Turkiye – Africa Defence Security and Space Forum and the Seventh Turkiye – Gulf Defence and Security Forum.

The conference was attended by academicians, researchers and experts from different universities of the world, as well as ministers, deputy ministers, bureaucrats, journalists, non-governmental organisations, think tanks, senior executives, business people and students from various countries.

Mr. Suleyman Sensoy, Founding President of TASAM, delivered the welcome speech and the conference was opened by Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela, Prime Minister of Burkina Faso; Begum Monnujan Sufian, Minister of State for Labour and Employment of Bangladesh; Nazim Cavusoglu, Minister of National Education and Culture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; and Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam.
