BDU Participated in the 2-Day European Union TAIEX Meeting

BDU President Musa Karademir, BDU Vice President Nalan Ozkan and BDU Founding Board Member Mehmet Nuri Kaynar attended the European Union TAIEX Meeting.

Musa Karademir, Nalan Ozkan and Mehmet Nuri Kaynar, Founders of the “Consumer Protection and Competition Law Federation” and “Consumer Dialogue Association”, which operate in the field of “Advocacy”, participated in the “Workshop on the Future of Turkey’s Harmonization Level in the Field of Consumer Protection in the Age of European Union Digital Transformation”.

Between 27-28 April 2023, the workshop held in Istanbul lasted 2 days. On the first day of the workshop, consumer policies in the EU were discussed. On the second day, the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA) were announced in detail.

At the end of the Workshop hosted by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, the presidents and members of the Consumer organizations in Turkey spoke. Members of the Consumers Confederation, the Federation of Consumer Protection and Competition Law, the Federation of Consumer Associations, the Federation of Consumers’ Union and the Federation of Consumer and Environmental Rights attended the workshop.

TAIEX: or the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange is an instrument of the Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission. TAIEX helps countries with regard to the approximation, application and enforcement of EU legislation. It is largely demand driven and channels requests for assistance and contributes to the delivery of appropriate tailor-made expertise to address problems at short notice.
